Beck Thoreson Commits to USA Hockey National Team Development Program
Beck Thoreson, a 16-year-old defenseman from Moorhead, has emerged as one of the top American-born players in his age group and has recently committed to the USA Hockey National Team Development Program (NTDP). Standing at 6-foot-4 with exceptional skating skills, Thoreson announced his commitment after a successful Bantam AA state championship season, where he recorded 13 goals and 78 points in 55 games.
Thoreson transitioned to the NTDP this fall, contributing three assists in ten games for the U.S. Under-17 Team. His recruitment process was swift, beginning when teams could contact him on January 1. He chose the NTDP over other options due to its strong coaching staff and the program's reputation for developing players both on and off the ice.
Despite facing injuries this season, including a fractured foot and wrist, Thoreson remains optimistic about his recovery and future contributions to the team. He is set to play for the U.S. Under-18 Team next season, with aspirations of joining the NTDP as early as the 2027-28 season.
